Why it matters

For people who keep a Mac running background work, Beam offers access to individual apps without opening a full remote desktop. Its appeal will depend on whether per-window access is easier than Screen Sharing in multi-Mac workflows.

Hiten Shah (@hnshah) and Sam Asante (@SamAsante) launched Beam on October 19th, a Mac app that brings individual windows from another Mac onto the computer a user is working on. The remote app gets its own Dock icon and appears in Command-Tab, while continuing to run on its original machine, Shah said in his launch thread on X.
