Why it matters

If diagnostic files contained face images accessible to apps, that would raise a privacy question separate from access to Face ID's protected biometric template. Apple's published Face ID security descriptions cover normal operation, not diagnostic-file access.

Cooler (@coolerwave) said on October 26th that Claude Code identified 12,847 purported face images in an iPhone diagnostic archive, including infrared frames and front-camera images. The post alleges the files had timestamps and location data and were outside the Photos library.
