Why it matters
Dream Labs is turning robot-control research into a metered API and asking hardware makers to outsource part of the intelligence stack. Its $90 million seed round funds that infrastructure bet, while the model's hardware requirements and beta status limit where it can be used.

Dream Labs emerged from stealth on October 19th with a $90 million seed round and Dream-1, a robot-control model offered through a public API for $3 per hour. Co-founders Joel Jang and You Liang Tan are betting that robot makers can buy a general-purpose control layer instead of building a separate policy for each machine.
