Why it matters
Muse Code's dormant systems show Meta preparing a programmable agent platform, with user-defined orchestration and Git-distributed extensions beyond its current terminal interface.
Update, Aug. 10th: Two hours after this article was published, Meta released Muse Glimmer, a new open-weight model positioned for persistent agentic workflows. Partner materials describe the model managing memory, recovering from failures and continuing work across restarts. Meta’s announcement did not disclose the dormant Muse Code workflow command or Git-based plugin machinery documented here.
The R708.1 launch build contains an omitted workflows command, JavaScript bindings for sequencing AI agents and a gated extension system designed to install packages from Git.
When Meta released Muse Code on August 5th, it introduced a terminal coding agent built to keep background agents working across long software-engineering tasks. Inside the launch binary, Meta shipped pieces of a larger system: a programmable layer for scripting teams of agents and distributing third-party extensions.
