Inspiren announces another $70M to make senior care predictive

The nurse-founded sensor platform announced the round less than a year after a $100M Series B, as subscription revenue reached $29M.

Inspiren, founded by former Green Beret and cardiothoracic nurse Michael Wang, announced a $70 million funding round led by NewView Capital and reported at a $550 million valuation, according to Forbes. The Brooklyn-based healthcare technology maker plans to use the money to move its senior-living sensor platform beyond detecting falls and toward identifying health problems before residents require emergency care.

The announcement came less than a year after Inspiren's September 25th, 2025 Series B, when Insight Partners led a $100 million investment. Inspiren has announced $170 million in funding in roughly 12 months, while Forbes reported that the latest round would bring its total investment to $225 million. Insight Partners, Primary Venture Partners and Scale Venture Partners are also investors.

From bedside workaround to senior-living platform

Wang spent seven years in the U.S. Army Special Forces, including two tours in Afghanistan, before becoming a cardiothoracic nurse at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. The repeated pattern he saw at the bedside was a preventable event, followed by an emergency response and a difficult recovery. Falls were a particularly costly example.

Wang began developing Inspiren's original wall-mounted AI device in 2016. The product used computer vision to help clinical staff detect falls and other safety events. Inspiren initially targeted hospitals, then shifted its commercial focus to assisted-living and memory-care operators, where residents spend far more time in private rooms and care teams must monitor large populations with limited staff.

That market shift gave Wang's clinical idea a clearer buyer. Senior-living operators directly absorb many of the operational consequences of slow responses: staff time, family concerns, care-plan changes and residents leaving for the hospital. Inspiren could sell the system as operating infrastructure rather than wait for reimbursement from insurers.

Hejnosz, who previously co-founded healthcare software provider CipherHealth, joined Inspiren as CEO in late 2022. Wang remained founder and chief clinical officer, preserving a division of labor that has become central to Inspiren's pitch: clinicians define the problems and operating workflows, while the executive team packages the sensors and software for deployment across multi-site senior-living portfolios.

Forbes reported that Wang wants falls to become rare enough that serious incidents inside senior-living facilities are considered shocking. Inspiren's next challenge is proving that a system designed around that clinical ambition can produce repeatable results across hundreds of buildings.

A sensor stack, not a single-purpose alarm

Inspiren's original AUGi device uses computer vision and privacy-protected skeletal imagery, representing residents as stick figures rather than conventional identifying footage. It can alert staff to falls, unusual activity or a resident struggling to get out of bed. Inspiren has added radar and floor sensors for bathrooms, where cameras would create an obvious privacy problem and falls are particularly dangerous.

The hardware feeds a broader software layer. Inspiren's platform combines resident-safety alerts with care-plan tracking, staffing analysis and emergency-call functions. Its eCall product provides location and visual context to caregivers and supports two-way voice communication. Inspiren HQ gives facility executives a portfolio-level view of clinical and operational data.

That breadth is the commercial bet. A stand-alone fall detector risks becoming another alert system competing for staff attention. Inspiren wants operators to use the same data to decide when a resident needs more assistance, whether staffing matches demand and whether a care plan reflects the services being delivered.

The approach also expands the number of decisions influenced by Inspiren's models. Detecting a person on the floor is a relatively concrete computer-vision task. Assessing whether changes in gait, sleep, room activity or social behavior indicate declining health requires more context and creates more room for false signals. Inspiren's clinician-led deployment and support model is intended to keep those signals tied to care workflows rather than dropping another dashboard on overstretched staff.

Revenue is catching up with the hardware footprint

Inspiren says it monitors about 40,000 residents across just over 500 facilities. Forbes reported that the system costs approximately $1,000 per resident, contracted revenue has passed $60 million and subscription revenue reached $29 million, up from $8 million a year earlier.

The subscription figure grew 3.6 times year over year. Inspiren's reported $550 million valuation is roughly 19 times the reported $29 million subscription revenue figure. Contracted revenue provides a larger forward-looking base, although contracted sales and recognized subscription revenue measure different stages of the customer relationship.

Forbes identified Aegis Living, Clearwater Living and Solera Senior Living among Inspiren's operators. In March, Inspiren and Solera released results from a 10-month deployment at the Lumina Las Vegas memory-care facility. They reported a 48% reduction in falls, 54% fewer hospitalizations and 50% faster staff response times between January and October 2025.

Those percentages come from an operator case study published by Inspiren and Solera. The release describes one facility and does not provide the resident count, a control group or enough methodological detail to treat the results as independent clinical validation. The findings still matter commercially: facility operators buy software based on operating outcomes, and the reported reductions cover the costs they are trying to control.

Senior living has become an AI market

Inspiren is entering its predictive phase in a field that already has established competitors. SafelyYou says its AI fall-detection and operating tools cover more than 1,000 communities and 50,000 residents. CarePredict analyzes patterns in residents' daily activity, while Helpany's radar-based PAUL system tracks posture, gait and movement without cameras.

Inspiren's distinction is the attempt to combine ambient sensing, emergency response, care planning and staffing data in one platform. That strategy can raise contract values and make Inspiren harder to replace once operators build workflows around its data. It also requires Inspiren to execute across hardware installation, machine learning, mobile alerts, enterprise software and clinical support at the same time.

The underlying demand is durable. The U.S. Census Bureau projects that Americans aged 65 and older will rise from 18.9% of the population in 2025 to 23.4% by 2060. The CDC says about 14 million older Americans report a fall in a year, while 41,400 people aged 65 or older died from unintentional falls in 2023.

The announced funding is intended to help Inspiren invest in detecting earlier signs of mobility loss, cognitive decline and other changes that can precede a crisis. It also raises the evidentiary bar. A fast fall alert has an observable event and response time. A prediction about cognitive or health deterioration is harder to test and carries greater consequences when staff act on it.

Wang built Inspiren around the idea that clinicians should receive useful information before a resident reaches the emergency room. The announced $70 million round would give Inspiren more resources to test that idea at greater scale. Its reported revenue growth shows operators will pay for better visibility inside their facilities. The next proof point is whether Inspiren can turn that visibility into reliable forecasts, without asking caregivers to trade privacy or attention for another stream of uncertain alerts.
