Meta adds pending-message edits to Muse, a feature already in ChatGPT's desktop app
OpenAI's ChatGPT desktop app lists message editing. RuntimeWire found Muse's editor in a signed 8.0 Mac package; server-side eligibility and general availability remain unverified.

RUNTIMEWIRE INVESTIGATION — Original analysis
Original reporting by RuntimeWire, based on reverse engineering, testing.
Why it matters
An editable approval step could let users correct agent-prepared messages without restarting the task, while keeping approval separate from saving. The package proves the Mac client is built for that flow; it does not prove live eligibility or server-side enforcement.
Reporting record
Finding
Inspection of Muse 8.0 Mac client code established that it contains an editor for certain pending messages, with saving edits and approving the action handled as separate client operations.
How we verified
Methods: reverse engineering, testing.
The signed Muse 8.0 package listed in Meta’s production updater feed, its October 16 manifest, the inspected client code and a comparison with a preserved Muse 7.0 bundle.
RuntimeWire inspected the Muse 8.0 Mac package and its client code, checked the updater and executable signatures, and compared the bundle with a preserved Muse 7.0 bundle. It did not launch the app, enroll an account, send a message or test server behavior.
Tested versions:
- Muse 8.0, build 1093405488
- Muse 7.0
Reproduction
RuntimeWire was not able to independently reproduce the finding.
Inspect the signed Muse 8.0 Mac package and compare it with the preserved Muse 7.0 bundle.
Company response
The company was not contacted before publication.

OpenAI's ChatGPT desktop app already lists message editing, so the Muse code points to a similar capability arriving in Meta's app. OpenAI's documentation also describes approval cards for supported app actions, but does not establish that ChatGPT edits messages inside those cards.…
