Why it matters
The investigations describe a political influence operation whose funding and organization are partly visible in campaign filings, while alleged anonymous social accounts remain unconnected to a confirmed payer. That gap matters as AI-backed groups spend heavily to shape rules and elections.

The Midas Project's Tyler Johnston published a 21-minute video on October 14th revisiting his investigations into anonymous X accounts that attacked critics of OpenAI and AI safety advocates. The investigations allege that the accounts connect to Leading the Future, a pro-AI super PAC whose largest backers include OpenAI president Greg Brockman and venture firm Andreessen Horowitz. They do not establish that OpenAI or the PAC directed the accounts.
