Why it matters

AI coding tools can produce code quickly, but each change still has to be built, tested and validated. Namespace is raising capital to own more of that underlying compute stack, placing its bet on developer infrastructure rather than on a coding agent itself.

An unbranded server rack, fiber cables, and a developer keyboard illustrate Namespace’s infrastructure for coding agents.

Namespace has raised $42 million in a Series B led by Scale Venture Partners, betting that faster AI-generated code will increase demand for the computing systems that build, test and run it. The funding, reported by Tech.eu, comes about six and a half months after Namespace announced $23 million in combined seed and Series A financing.

Founder and CEO Hugo Santos is building the company around a problem he encountered from both sides: large software organizations can invest in integrated engineering tools, while most companies must assemble and maintain their own build and test infrastructure. Santos spent nearly nine years at Google, where he became a principal engineer and worked on infrastructure supporting products including Search, YouTube and Photos. Before Google, he co-founded Blaast, a Finland-based edge-computing startup focused on feature phones.
