Why it matters
GPT-Live-1.1 brings OpenAI's voice interface to ChatGPT, Codex and Dots, while developers remain on the earlier model until the API update arrives.

OpenAI said on October 15th that GPT-Live-1.1, its real-time voice system, is rolling out to ChatGPT, Codex and Dots with new voices in French, German, Hindi, Mexican Spanish, Korean and Japanese. The announcement on X also promises better accents and less spoken progress narration, the audible "checking..." that can make an assistant sound as if it is stuck waiting on its own work.
