Anthropic

Continuing coverage of Anthropic and Claude — model releases, Claude Code and the agent ecosystem, watermarking policy, safety disclosures, and the enterprise business.

Anthropic builds Claude — and increasingly, the tools around it: Claude Code for agentic software work, Cowork sessions, and a model line that spans the fast-and-cheap (Sonnet 5) to the frontier Opus, Fable, and Mythos families. It is OpenAI's most direct rival, and on developer mindshare it is sometimes the leader.

RuntimeWire covers Anthropic on two tracks. The first is product: model releases, pricing moves in a commoditizing market, and the Claude Code ecosystem that founders actually build businesses on. The second is conduct: Anthropic positions itself as the safety-first lab, which makes its choices — worldwide text watermarking, closed detection tools, the red-team results it does and doesn't publish — a running test of whether that posture survives commercial pressure.

What we're tracking:

  • Claude model releases, pricing, and benchmark performance
  • Claude Code and the agent ecosystem building on top of it
  • Watermarking and provenance policy, and the developer backlash
  • Safety disclosures: cyber evaluations, deceptive-behavior findings, and research claims
  • The balance sheet: Amazon's stake, acquisition talks, and enterprise traction
