Users began reporting the model at about 5:19 p.m. Central on August 10th. By roughly 6 p.m., Cursor had removed it from the picker. Some developers said they were able to run requests, while others encountered usage restrictions or could not get Grok 4.6 to edit code. The mixed results point to an early production exposure rather than a general release.

At 1:18 a.m. Central on August 11th, software developer and creator Francesco Ciulla (@FrancescoCiull4) said xAI had granted him early access to Grok 4.6 in preview mode. Ciulla's access places the model outside xAI and Cursor's internal testing groups, although it does not establish when broader access will begin or which products will receive it first.

Tan did not name Grok 4.6, leaving open the possibility that her message concerned another Cursor release. The overnight speculation extends beyond Grok 4.6. Mark K reported rumors that Cursor may also be preparing a project called Cursor Origin and a Composer 3.0 release. The names have not been confirmed as launches, and the report does not establish their features, availability or timing.

Cursor says Grok 4.5 was trained jointly with SpaceXAI using trillions of tokens of Cursor data. Cursor presented that model as a first-party option across its desktop, web, mobile, command-line and software development kit products.
