Higgsfield puts GPT-driven motion graphics inside After Effects

Higgsfield plugs ChatGPT into After Effects for editable motion graphics

Alex Mashrabov (@alexmashrabov) has launched Higgsfield's AI Motion Designer for Adobe After Effects. Higgsfield is putting GPT-driven motion-design work inside After Effects, where the output remains a project a designer can revise rather than a finished clip.

Higgsfield introduced AI Motion Designer on September 10th, three days before promoting the workflow in a post on X. Users can ask the agent to animate a title, assemble a logo reveal or add a transition. Higgsfield says the output arrives in an open After Effects composition as editable layers, keyframes and timing, allowing a designer to revise the project without regenerating a flattened video.

The Adobe workflow differs from 3D Jutsu, which Higgsfield presented on September 5th as a standalone browser-based 3D workspace. Higgsfield identifies its Blender plugin as a separate product. 3D Jutsu can turn a prompt or reference into an editable scene containing objects, layout, lighting, cameras and animation, with GPT-6 Astra available as one selectable model. AI Motion Designer leaves motion-graphics work in After Effects, with native layers, keyframes and timing available for revisions.

OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra on September 3rd. In Higgsfield's workflow, the model handles planning, coding and computer use while Higgsfield supplies the media-generation and editing tools.

Mashrabov has spent years building visual AI for consumer distribution. He previously co-founded AI Factory, whose technology powered Snapchat's Cameos feature. Snap acquired AI Factory in 2020 for a reported $166 million, and Mashrabov later led generative AI work at Snap. He founded Higgsfield in 2023 with Yerzat Dulat, now Higgsfield's CTO, and later added Mahi de Silva to the founding leadership team.

The move into After Effects follows an earlier correction in Mashrabov's product strategy. Higgsfield began with a consumer application that struggled to retain users. According to TechCrunch's profile of the company, interviews with directors and commercial producers pushed Mashrabov and Dulat toward precise camera controls and production workflows, where professional users had specific problems and budgets.

Chat becomes the control panel

The workflow starts by adding the Higgsfield plugin in ChatGPT, invoking the After Effects tool and describing the intended result. Higgsfield also offers a native plugin panel for After Effects, where its generation and editing tools can place assets directly into an Adobe project.

Higgsfield says the agent can use a customer's footage, text, colors and visual references. The generated elements remain editable through standard After Effects controls, so a designer can adjust timing, typography or individual layers after the agent completes its pass. Commercial approval cycles often produce narrow revision requests, and an editable composition can accommodate those changes without requiring a fresh render from the original prompt.

The integration also avoids asking motion designers to move an entire production into a browser workspace. Higgsfield enters through ChatGPT, performs generation and composition work, then leaves the project in Adobe's file and editing environment.

The convenience comes with a three-subscription stack. Higgsfield says users need active access to Higgsfield, ChatGPT and Adobe After Effects. Generations consume the same Higgsfield credits used on its web platform, while ChatGPT and Adobe carry their own plan costs. Agencies will have to weigh that bundle against the time the agent saves and the cleanup its output requires.

On its AI Motion Designer product page, Higgsfield says users can request projects running for 30 minutes or longer at resolutions including 1080p, 4K and 8K. Higgsfield describes longer runtimes and higher resolutions as increasing generation time. Those are Higgsfield's product claims, rather than measurements from client productions.

A $5.4 billion valuation meets the Adobe timeline

Runway, Adobe, OpenAI, Google and Chinese model developers all offer video-generation systems. Higgsfield packages generation models into presets, production agents and connections to creative software. With AI Motion Designer, Higgsfield's position depends on whether those connections reduce work inside a production process that customers already use.

In August, TechCrunch reported that Higgsfield raised $400 million at a $5.4 billion valuation, led by DST Global with Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Valor Capital and Tribe Capital participating. Higgsfield claimed $700 million in annualized revenue and 30 million users at the time; those figures remain self-reported.

TechCrunch said the financing would support hiring, product development and compute, an expensive input for video generation. The valuation also raises the standard for releases such as AI Motion Designer. Higgsfield must retain users and capture spending while underlying generation models improve and Adobe adds AI features to its own applications.

AI Motion Designer addresses that pressure by placing Higgsfield inside the working composition, where teams make revisions and preserve project structure. If the agent reliably creates editable layers and keyframes, replacing it becomes more disruptive than switching between services that return rendered clips. If designers spend most of their time repairing its output, the three-subscription workflow will be harder to justify.
