How do I install RuntimeWire New Tab?

Install it free from the Chrome Web Store (chromewebstore.google.com/detail/runtimewire-new-tab/lnbenkaeegjkenpfbiocliomimgckgpi): click "Add to Chrome", open a new tab, and sign in with your RuntimeWire account (Google or X). runtimewire.com/extension/new-tab has the full tour.

Sign-in isn't working. What should I check?

Signing in opens a runtimewire.com window where you finish with Google or X — make sure your browser isn't blocking that pop-up. If the window closes without signing you in, try again from the new tab page. Only official builds can sign in — if you're on a modified or re-packed copy, reinstall from the Chrome Web Store.

Do my focus and tasks sync between computers?

Yes — your daily focus and task list are stored with Chrome's built-in sync, so they follow you to any Chrome where you're signed into the same Google profile with sync enabled. They never leave your browser's storage; we don't keep a copy on our servers.

How often do the wallpapers change?

A fresh wallpaper arrives three times a day — morning, afternoon, and evening — from a library that keeps growing on its own. There's nothing to configure.

How do I get the standard Chrome new tab back?

Open chrome://extensions and either toggle RuntimeWire New Tab off (to keep it installed) or click "Remove" to uninstall it. Chrome's default new tab page returns immediately.

How do I install Map Fixer?

Install it free from the Chrome Web Store (chromewebstore.google.com/detail/runtimewire-map-fixer/bfdedecmfjjmgblggkfmponenjphkhok), then reload any map tabs that were already open.

Why does Map Fixer ask to read and change data on all websites?

The optional “Text everywhere” feature needs broad page access to find changing text nodes and perform two literal phrase replacements. Map Fixer also uses declarative network rules for Google Maps and the off-by-default Apple Maps beta. You can turn each feature off in the popup.

What does the VS Code extension do?

It puts a live AI-news ticker in your editor's status bar — the latest RuntimeWire headlines while the agent thinks. Pair it with the runtimewire CLI (npx runtimewire install) to fill Claude Code's idle "thinking" spinner too.

Does it work in Cursor or other VS Code forks?

Yes — it uses only standard VS Code APIs, so it runs in VS Code, Cursor, VSCodium, and other compatible editors. Any terminal works too, via the runtimewire CLI.

Headlines stopped showing. What should I check?

Make sure the extension is enabled in the Extensions view — reloading the editor window fixes most cases. If you set up the Claude Code spinner with the CLI and that stopped working, run npx runtimewire install again. If it persists, email us — include your editor and extension version.

How do I uninstall the VS Code extension?

Uninstall it from the editor's Extensions view like any other extension — the status-bar ticker goes with it. If you also set up the Claude Code spinner via the CLI, run npx runtimewire uninstall to restore your previous spinner settings.

What data do the extensions collect?

New Tab and VS Code store the minimum needed to work: your RuntimeWire sign-in token and, for New Tab, your focus and tasks in Chrome's own sync storage. Map Fixer stores its toggle settings locally, reads page text to perform its literal replacements, and loads public RuntimeWire headlines in its popup; it does not send page text to RuntimeWire. Are the extensions free?

Yes, all three are free. Map Fixer does not require a RuntimeWire account. New Tab uses a free RuntimeWire account to sync its newsroom features.
