Why it matters

Stripe is turning business profiles into a route for moving money inside its network. The launch's account requirements keep the feature focused on Stripe customers, and its adoption will determine whether that network convenience becomes a regular payment workflow.

Stripe introduced Stripe pay, a tool for instant business-to-business transfers that lets businesses find recipients by Stripe Profile handle and send money from the Dashboard or command line. Stripe described transfers as free in its October 27th post on X; its CLI documentation says the sender needs a funded financial account and the recipient needs a financial account linked to a Stripe Profile.
